Our Guard Guard "is a basilica, built atop a limestone hill. It overlooks the Old Port of Marseille. This is a true symbol of the city affectionately known as the" good mother "by its inhabitants.
It was built in the nineteenth century, designed by architect Henry Espérandieu. He chose a Romanesque-Byzantine style. The building is located on the remains of an old fort, this e which allowed him to gain 13 meters. Its bell tower is topped by a tower, on which stands a statue of the Virgin and Child, which measures 11.2 meters high. Its color is given to him by his gilded copper coating.
